What Xwidget could have been and how it should have succeeded? Just a short rant this time.
Xwidget had the potential to be a rather nice widget IDE and widgeting environment allowing easy widget development and putting javascript programs on the desktop. It almost achieved this by building a very decent graphical GUI where a developer could compose and animate widgets and combining this with the embedding of a javascript rendering engine into one Windows desktop tool.

I've written this tutorial/journal item for all Deviantart users. Most of us use computers now to create our art and so what follows is really ultra-relevant to all of us. I have tried to distil the important facts regarding the Spectre/Meltdown exploits and how they might affect you. There are a lot of words here but please don't let let that put you off. There is a new entry into the desktop widget/customisation world and that goes by the name of PlexyDesk. PlexyDesk was originally an open source Ubuntu-based application designed to provide desktop widgets and multiple workspaces (desktops) on version 16.04 of that environment. PlexyDesk has been around for a while on Ubuntu but has recently grown in capability so that it now provides the identical desktop/widget functionality not only on Ubuntu but now Windows and Mac OSX.
